A father describes how he fulfilled his dream of being a parent by creating a family without a mother.
‘I duly crossed out the words on the (application for nationality) form that said in the case of unmarried parents, parent equals mother and I referred the reader to the appropriate section in the Human Rights Act which prevents discrimination on the grounds of gender. And then very shortly afterwards the children were awarded full British citizenship.’
