Search for a keyword
To search for pages and documents containing a word, a 'keyword', type in the word and click 'Go'. For example rights.
This will return all pages and documents that contain your keyword 'rights' somewhere in the title, the text or the metadata describing the document.
Search for more than one word
You can type in more than one word and search for pages and documents containing all of the words. For example Human rights.
This returns pages and documents containing all the words in any order and in any place in the document. It will return documents with 'human rights', but also with 'rights human', and 'rights ... human'.
Search for a phrase
You can be more precise and search for a phrase, for example "human rights" by putting quotes around your phrase.
This will only return pages and documents that contain the phrase "human rights". This should return fewer results and is more accurate.
OR search
You can search for either human or rights. To do this type human OR rights with the OR in capitals.
This will return any page or document containing human, containing rights and containing both. This approach searches widest of all and returns the most documents.
Search within
The search within options allow you to restrict your search just to documents classified, or tagged, within a category. For example you search for keywords "human rights" and search within Disability, Working and earning, and Employers.
This should retun pages and documents containing the phrase 'human rights' and classified about disability in employment and written for employers. This is a narrower search and should return less results.
If you get no results try widening your search to include more categories, or simply remove categories you searched within.
Earliest date, latest date
You can search for documents published between two dates, for example "human rights" 1 January 2007 to 1 June 2007.
This will only return documents published between January and June 2007 containing the phrase 'human rights'.
English, Cymraeg
Selecting either English or Cymraeg will restrict your search to search only pages or documents published in English or in Welsh.
When you select English you can search for English and Welsh words in English documents; and when you select Cymraeg you can search for Welsh and English words in Welsh documents.
For example selecting Cymraeg and searching for "human rights" will return pages or documents in Welsh that contain the English phrase human rights.
