Welsh language scheme

In compliance with the terms of the Welsh Language Act 1993, the Equality and Human Rights Commission, in conjunction with the Welsh Language Board, has developed the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s Welsh Language Scheme.

The scheme received the approval of the Equality and Human Rights Commission in May 2008, and the next step is to launch the scheme throughout Equality and Human Rights Commission and to the general public.

Prior to the introduction of the scheme, we are conducting a period of consultation. A copy of the draft scheme is now available:

After this date the scheme will be presented to the Welsh Language Board for approval, and it will then fall upon all Equality and Human Rights Commission’s staff to ensure that the public are informed of the need to consider the provision of relevant Welsh language material.
